FAQs

Faith-based investing is a new concept for many of our clients.

Do you have a question that isn’t answered here?

Do I need to be a Christian to work with your team?

No! We offer our services to anyone seeking to partner with a team that strives to work by the Golden Rule with morals, values, and integrity.

What is Biblically responsible investing (BRI) or faith-based investing?

Biblically responsible investing is taking 1 Corinthians 10:31 at face value. “…whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”

Our approach to BRI is threefold:

  1. Endorse companies making a positive impact in the world.
  2. Engage with companies to create positive change.
  3. Exclude companies involved in immoral issues.

Do I need to sacrifice performance to invest in clean companies?

No, you do not. Good values and good returns are not mutually exclusive. While no strategy can ever guarantee positive investment returns, research from Biola University, Oxford University, Wharton, and others suggest that investment performance has benefited from values-based investment practices, such as BRI.

How do you determine which investments are aligned with my values and biblical principles?

Our team uses screening tools, which analyze investments, to assess company values and determine their practices. We learn how profits are made and what their profits support.

What happens if some of my existing investments conflict with my values?

We can provide alternate investment recommendations that meet your current investment objectives.

Can I screen to exclude specific issues, like pornography or human trafficking?

Yes – our screening profile allows clients to score areas of importance in over 40 categories, thus making every client’s portfolio unique to them.

My current advisor is Christian – aren’t they already screening my investments?

Not necessarily. There is a widely held assumption that every Christian advisor or Christian fund company automatically screens for biblical issues. However, many if not most Christian advisors do not invest biblically unless their client specifically asks for it. Surprisingly, many Christian advisors have still never heard of BRI and/or do not have the tools available to them to implement biblically responsible investing. It is always best to make sure you have a conversation with your advisor and let them know these values matter to you.
